August 9 – We Are Hip Hop Festival

This summer Working Bikes hosted 10 youth apprentices through the City of Chicago’s One Summer Chicago Youth Employment Program and in partnership with ElevArte, a community art studio here in Pilsen. To celebrate the end of the program, the teens will be helping out at We Are Hip Hop festival on Saturday, August 9 from 1:00-6:00pm at Dvorak Park, 1119 W. Cullerton St. Chicago, IL 60608.

We Are Hip Hop is a festival curated and led by Chicago YOUTH, striving for peace, anti-violence and Hip Hop awareness. Featuring live art demonstrations, breakdancing, DJs and Spoken word, and family focused activities. EleVarte Community Studio is in residency at Dvorak Park, through the Chicago Park District’s Arts Partner in Residence Program, which unites artists and communities in Chicago’s parks. Elevarte Community Studio uses the arts as a catalyst for youth development. A dedicated cadre of teaching artists and youth inspire and support each other as art makers and active citizens and create youth-activated safe spaces through In- School Residencies, Out-of-School-Time Programs, and Community Celebrations.
