In late summer of 2013, Working Bikes was approached by Matt Cardoni, an account director at tech company Performics who had recently begun helping nonprofits apply for a program called Google AdWords Grants.
With the help of Matt, Working Bikes applied and was accepted to the Google AdWords Grants program. As a bonus, we were matched up with students from the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business who had received AdWords training from Matt. The UI students, Anna Konchar, Beth Redfearn, and Sean Nehf, have helped us to create and manage our AdWords, increasing the frequency and relevancy of visits to our website.
The Google AdWords Grants program provides nonprofits with up to $10,000 in AdWords, the first listings visible on a Google search. Companies typically pay for these prime spots in the search results queue, but in the Google AdWords Grants program, nonprofits are granted space for free.
