We’ll be packing bikes for FUSAL in El Salvador on Wednesday, August 27 and could use your help! Swing by the Working Bikes warehouse at 2434 S. Western Ave. in Chicago anytime between 12pm and 5pm to help load bikes into a 40 foot shipping container. You’ll be relaying bikes to the truck, removing pedals, and turning handlebars so we can fit as many bikes as possible.
No experience necessary. All volunteers will receive lunch and something sweet (donuts or pastries). Be sure to wear close-toed shoes and bring a water bottle, as the warehouse can get hot!
FUSAL is a nonprofit organization that connects experienced and socially conscious Salvadoran individuals, businesses, and organizations with those most in need. FUSAL supports efforts to improve health care and educational opportunities for underserved populations across El Salvador. This shipment of bikes will support FUSAL’s Proyecto País program, a project aimed at developing healthy communities through sports and the arts. Aside from cycling, Proyecto País also supports programs for football, basketball, swimming, dance, singing, drawing and painting. Our shipment is the product of a collaboration with SAHF, FUSAL’s sister organization here in the U.S.
